Get out of your comfort zone- Disney Fitspiration!

I was watching Mulan this morning while making my morning fruit smoothies, and I totally got inspired by this scene!

mulan

If Mulan can climb a pole with two huge penny looking weights, we can DEFINITELY push ourselves out of our comfort zones on the next few reps of push ups!

Getting out of your comfort zone is how you’ll start seeing changes in your body. Pushing yourself beyond what your body is used to, is how the tone and definition will begin to appear. If you never try anything new, and always stick to your same routines, chances are- your body will stay the same too.

Want to see change? Work for it.

I found a Fitness Center in the mountains!!

WOAH!

Just when I thought this road trip up to a small town in Julian couldn’t get any more awesome- I FOUND A FITNESS CENTER IN THE MOUNTAINS!

Julian is a tiny town in the mountains with a population of less then 1,000 people. Needless to say, I was impressed to see their dedication to fitness among such a small community.

My best friend Allie gladly snapped a Picture of Locket and I strutting our muscular poses in front of the fitness center haha. As you can see, Locket seemed more interested in lady bugs and daisies on the ground then treadmills.

If I can find a fitness center in the mountains, YOU can find a gym near you! No excuses, get your butt up and exercise today! If I had brought a pair of tennis shoes with me, you can BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR that I would be kicking some butt on the bicycle in there.

Julian Fitness

… We also found a jail… just incase I tried to steal a shopping cart full of Apple Pecan salad dressing from my last post (They must have known I was coming Hahahah)

Jail fabulous

Make goals- Plan ahead

proud in a year

This was TOO awesome not to put on my health blog!

Take a second to sit down, turn your computer monitor off and silence your cell phone.

Write a list of 5 simple things that you can start implementing into your life RIGHT NOW that will make you proud a year from now. This is a great idea for beginners just getting started on their Fitspirational Journeys!

A few things on my list:

  1. Add ONE more serving of fruit to every day as a daily snack
  2. Complete 2-3 runs with my boyfriend by this time next year (Color Run CHECK!)
  3. Make 2-3 health blog posts every day
  4. Start going to bed earlier, ensuring at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night
  5. Make a “goal board” with 20 things I’d like to do in the next year. Cross things off as I do them!

Try it out 🙂 What’s on your list?

Take your dog for a long walk- a great way to add exercise to your day!

image

I just got home from teaching Sunday school at church, and then took my little yorkie Locket for a long walk!

Taking your dog for a long walk is a great way to fit in some extra exercise in your day.

We went about 2 miles around the lake by my house which she really enjoyed. That extra 2 miles put me in such a great mood!

Finishing our walk off with some healthy doggie cookies and a fresh fruit smoothie.

If you have a precious puppy of your own, use her as a fabulous excuse to get your butt off the computer and explore nature for a while.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Dwight is right ladies- lifting won’t make you huge…

dwight cupcake lift

As a huge fan of the office, I couldn’t go another minute without posting Dwight’s huge face on my health blog!

Lifting weights is NOT going to make you huge ladies. This is a common misconception that I get asked about quite often. If you’re on a bad diet, and you just can’t seem to keep your hands off Mr. Ben and Mr. Jerry (if you know what I mean *ehem ICECREAM ehem**.

If you balance out a healthy diet (with protein/fruits/veggies) with a solid workout plan, you’ll EARN your way to the body of your dreams! Lifting weights is NOT going to make you big, but lifting weights without training might. If you’re really worries about this, please message me and we’ll go over your exercise routine together. A good cardio mix with strengthening exercises and weights will actually lean you out.

Whats the worst that can happen? You might just end up with a fabulously it body. Oops 🙂

10 ways to get your health back on track!

10 ways

Weather you’re a beginner or just finding yourself a little off track lately, you can absolutely begin to take steps towards the healthy life you’ve always wanted.

Guess what, if life isn’t going the way you want it to- and the word “vegetable” hasn’t crossed your lips in a few weeks… you’re not alone! Don’t let it get you down, let it be encouragement to make next week even better.

So what if you’ve had a few donuts lately, just because yesterday wasn’t so great, doesn’t mean that today won’t be the beginning of a new you. However, change isn’t easy. It takes 21 days to form a habit, and those 21 days aren’t going to be a piece of cake (or a fork full of salad since we’re being healthy here haha.)

It’s okay to take baby steps. Make the decision that your bad habits don’t define you.

Take this list above and start actually applying them. When? NOW! Don’t say you’ll start this later. Later never comes. Recommit your day TODAY. Grab some water, dust off your running shoes and LET’S DO THIS!

Working out with your boyfriend- get a fitness partner!

boyfriend fit 1boyfriend fit 2 boyfriend fit 3

I am so blessed to be in a wonderful relationship with a guy who loves the fitness world almost as much as I do!

Bryan and I did The Color Run last month together, and now we’re working through Jillian Michael’s 90 Day Workout Video Challenge.

Having a workout partner provides incredible motivation to stay on track. When one of you starts getting off track, the other one is right behind you pushing you right back to where you should be. Having your fitness partner be the one that you’re madly in love with is just a fabulous added bonus 😉

If you’re not in a relationship, enlist one of your best friends! Make a list of goals that you’d like to achieve together and set a date by which you’d like to have them finished.

Potential Fitspirational Goals:

  • Complete a workout video series together (such as Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution). 30 Day Shred, P90X and Insanity are also great workout series you can check out.
  • Train for a specific marathon coming up. There are SO many wonderful runs happening throughout the US. From The Color Run, to the Mud Run, to runs for charities (breast cancer, aids etc). Disneyland even has their own runs now; The Tinkerbell Run, and the Princess Run! (Google this, they’re SO cool!)

Bryan and I finishing The Color Run in San Diego together!

  • Set a goal weight together that you’d like to achieve. Work together to come up with a healthy food plan and weigh-in once a week! Congratulate each other with every successful pound lost, or be there for each other if you need to re-strategize a better plan.
  • Fitness classes! Classes at the Gym are great to incorporate into your Fitspirational Goals. I’m really into Zumba, and I also love Heat Yoga and Turbo Kick. Go to your local gym with your fitness partner and come up with 1-2 weekly classes that you’d like to take together.

Get a partner, set some goals, and FITspire each other all the way to a successful healthy lifestyle!
